WebbOverseas Filipino Workers, or OFWs, represent a subset of Overseas Filipinos, and are temporary migrants. The OFW term is commonly used, a further sign of the pervasive role that labor migration occupies in Philippine society. The Commission on Filipinos Overseas includes the following categories of migrants in its stock estimates: WebbDecember 2013, roughly 10% of the total population (Table 2.2). Between 2000 and 2013, this 10% share has been maintained. Overseas Filipinos, as outlined in Table 2.2, consist of permanent migrants, temporary migrants (largely temporary migrant workers or OFWs), and migrants in an irregular situation (described below).
