Circling approaches are necessary for a variety of reasons. The most common are strong tailwinds, obstacles, high descent angles and/or the final approach segment exceeds 30 degrees from the approach runway. WebThe descent shall be flown to pass at or above the minimum altitude at any step-down fix. The rate of descent is selected and adjusted to achieve a continuous descent to a point approximately 50 ft. above the landing runway threshold or the point where the flare manoeuvre should begin for the type of aircraft flown.
